Refuses to Release Men Acquitted of Homosexuality Charges - The
Advocate, May 5, 2006
Cameroon’s government is refusing to release from jail the nine men
acquitted last month on homosexuality charges. The men were part of the
"Yaoundé 11," detained in May 2005 following a police raid at a
nightclub said to be frequented by gay men and women. Two of the men had
charges dropped earlier this year.

Lawmaker Wants Gay Rights Tied to Foreign Policy - 365Gay.com,
September 25, 2006
A Canadian member of parliament is calling for the adoption of the
Declaration of Montreal to be enshrined in the country's foreign policy.
The declaration was prepared this summer at an international LGBT rights
conference tied to the first Outgames in Montreal.
Although document's principals are already part of Canadian law - equal
rights, abolition of anti-gay sex laws, and equal marriage - New
Democratic Party MP says Canada should be promoting those values in its
foreign affairs.

Handholding Now Illegal in Zimbabwe - 365Gay.com,
July 17, 2006
Zimbabwe strongman Robert Mugabe's government has made it a criminal
offense for two people of the same sex to hold hands, hug, or kiss.
The "sexual deviancy" law is one of 15 additions to Zimbabwe's
criminal code quietly passed in Parliament last week.
The sections involving gays and lesbians are part of an overhaul of the
sodomy laws. Until now laws against sodomy were limited to sexual
activity.
The revised law now states that sodomy is any "act involving contact
between two males that would be regarded by a reasonable person as an
indecent act".
