Saudi, 2 Yemenis Suffer Amputation

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia—Authorities on Sunday chopped off the right
hands and the left feet of a Saudi man and two Yemenis for robbery, the Interior Ministry
said in a statement.
Abdul-Khair al-Garni, a Saudi national, and the Yemenis, Mamdouh Sufiani and Hassan,
were found guilty of robbing a number of taxi drivers at knifepoint, said the statement
carried by the official Saudi Press Agency.
Last month, a Saudi national had his right hand and left foot amputated for sodomy.
Saudi Arabia's strict interpretation of Islamic law calls for cutting off the hands and
feet of sodomizers and thieves.
Murderers, rapists, drug traffickers and armed robbers are beheaded.
Executionsthere were at least 99 last yearand amputations are carried out
with a sword in a public square.
