Saudi Gay Men Publicly Beheaded
Advocate,
January 3, 2002
Three Saudi Arabian men were beheaded Tuesday for homosexuality, according
to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Quoting an official Saudi press
statement, the paper said the men were executed because they "committed
acts of sodomy, married each other, seduced young men, and attacked those who
rebuked them." The men were beheaded with a sword in front of the public
in the southwestern Saudi mountain resort town of Abha. Last year at least 81
people were executed for breaking Saudi Arabia's strict interpretation of
Islamic law.
