Snowball Tossed Out

The Police have rejected an application by Jungle Media
to hold a party called SnowBall.04 which was to be held at the former
Warehouse Disco at River Valley Road on Christmas Day.
In explaining its decision, the Police said the
organisers—who also staged the Nation.04 event—had given assurances that
these would not be “gay parties”.
But the police noted that promotion materials were
advertised on a known gay portal. The Police said at the Nation.04 opening
ball at Suntec earlier this year, patrons of the same sex were seen behaving
intimately.
Several complaints were also received about the openly
gay acts there.
Police reiterated that while they do not discriminate
against gays, they recognise that Singapore is still largely a conservative
and traditional society.
