TFP Decries Supreme Court’s Decision as America’s “Moral 9/11”

The American TFP decries the June 26, 2003 Supreme Court decision in Lawrence v. Texas striking down an anti-sodomy law in the Lone Star State.

The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property, June 26, 2003

The moral and social consequences of this decision are far worse than those experienced with Roe v. Wade. In granting constitutional protection to sodomy, the Supreme Court solemnly renounced the duty imposed by Natural Law on every government to uphold morality in striving for the common good. This dereliction of duty represents a major blow to America’s Christian roots, the institution of the family and the very foundations of morality and society.

Lawrence v. Texas is America’s “moral 9/11.” In one fell swoop, the highest court in the land laid low the legal constructs of every state safeguarding public morality. It also paved the way for destroying a second set of legal constructs—such as the country’s many DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) laws—erected to protect the sacred institutions of marriage and the family.

This decision essentially affirms there is no morality. Moreover, it allows for an interpretation so broad that all state laws proscribing prostitution, adultery, bigamy, incest, sadomasochism, pedophilia, and bestiality are now at risk. It is a blatant rejection of Natural Law and the moral code that has governed Western Christian Civilization for 2,000 years.

The American TFP deplores the monumental implications of this decision and the harsh burden it places on all Americans who strive to abide by the Ten Commandments. The TFP notes with alarm how this official approbation of unnatural vice constitutes a grievous sin against God and His Divine Law.

In the Cultural War fiercely raging today in America, this decision represents a brutal offensive that now obliges pro-family forces to take the initiative. The American TFP prays that the court’s decision will serve as a clarion call for all morality-loving Americans who are not already in the fray, mobilizing them to a legal, principled, and uncompromising rejection of the homosexual agenda.
