Thank God for the Supreme Court! It has rightly decided that government has no place in the bedroom of consenting adults (“Court reverses gay sex ban,” Page A1, June 27).

It is heartening to me that no matter how hard they try to pack the court with doctrinaire conservatives, the justices remain independent and express their own consciences. Remember, Justice Harry Blackmun, who wrote the opinion in Roe v. Wade, was appointed by President Richard Nixon as a strict constructionist.

As for the religious reactionaries who bemoan this decision, let them go live in Saudi Arabia or Iran.
