I never thought I’d be writing a letter about gay rights, but the press,
the government and the gay community shouldn’t overlook this story.
The North County Times printed a small story on Jan. 2 about the Saudi
government beheading three of its citizens for being gay. I find it incredible
that I haven’t heard so much as a peep out of anyone. Are we all so addicted
to cheap oil from the Saudis that anything goes? Beheading is barbaric enough,
but to chop their heads off because they were gay defies civilized logic.
Can you imagine the outcry that would have taken place if the heads were
chopped off in China? This is a complete failure of every news organization in
our country. How could a story like this be overlooked?
The Saudis had much to do with the 9/11 and yet we overlook it and attack
Afghanistan. The president and his oil buddies have conned the American people
into believing a poor country of 16th-century religious fanatics are totally
to blame and the oil-rich religious fanatics of Saudi Arabia are innocent.
