Legislating Immorality

The decision that came down from the Supreme Court, striking down Texas’ anti-sodomy legislation, is a disgrace to our country.

I worked 25 years in the Republican Party in Minnesota, where a county attorney told me, “You don’t legislate morals.” But I responded, “You don’t need to legislate immorality.”

We don’t have human rights, according to the Declaration of Independence. It states, “We are endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Our rights come from God—not man. If they come from man, they can be changed. If they come from God, they cannot be altered.

What does God say? He says, homosexuality is an abomination. Leviticus 18:22: “You shall not be with a male as with a woman, it is an abomination.”

The homosexuals say they are born gay. If this is true and God created us in his image, then we are accusing God of creating an abomination. Also we’re making God a liar.

We’ve come a long way from truth. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. That doesn’t mean we don’t love the gays, we just don’t love what they do.
